Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! It has been an amazing Christmas for sure and I am so blessed and thankful for all he does in our lives daily! I just finished cleaning our house and as silly as it sounds, In a weird way it is so nice to pick up after my Stepson (yes you heard me right). I pray that one day we will be blessed with a child of our own or that we can adopt. I know that God has amazing things in store for Dan and I. However, for now I should be so thankful for my stepson. He is a great kid, he is incredibly smart, funny and giving. So lesson for me is that I need to be thankful for all that I have at all times.

Christmas Tradition with Tamales

Today we are making tamales it has been a longtime tradition in my family. However, now that I am doing it myself with my family it reminds that it is so much more about the time together and not so much about the tamales.

I remember as a young girl my mom and aunts would get together and laugh and sing and tell stories. Some of the most incredible childhood memories ever. If you could imagine a huge Hispanic family sitting in my abuela's dinning room in there home in Redondo Beach just listening to Spanish music dancing and singing and and just enjoying eachother you would have thought you were in the Utopia of families. Our family was a traditional Hispanic family with the beautiful white haired abuela telling all her daughters and granddaughter's that they are making the tamales wrong and giving instructions on how to do it the right way and she was always right. The masa has to float to the top she said and if didn't then it wasn't done correctly.

Then you have my Aunts who are just hilarious and would make everybody laugh and who are vivacious and lovable who wanted to dance and sing and that describes all of my aunts. Then you have all the uncles sitting down in the third floor playing poker and laughing and everybody always letting my abuelo win in poker because none of the son in laws wanted our Abuelo to get mad at them lol... My papa was much smarter then they thought he loved it because he knew he was going to win.

So with that said, making the tamales was an extra bonus but it was really about family and friends. Though I have lost both of parents and our family has grown so much and everybody is so busy doing their own thing and sometimes forget about the most precious times in life. It is always good to take a step back, enjoy your family and friends and have some traditions , So today Daniel and I have our 3rd anniversay of making tamales for our own family and hope this tradition and time together keep progessing through our family.

My nieces and my son will add to the laughter and the fun. We are so blessed with great friends and family I couldn't ask for anymore then that.

Thank You Father for the blessing you have poured into our lives!
